FAQs

Q: How should I decide between managing my own investment portfolio and seeking professional investment services?

A: This is an individual choice based on your comfort level with investments and investment products and the amount of available time (and personal inclination).  If you do not have a general understanding about investing and the risks inherent to various investment securities, we recommend that you work with a professional and licensed investment advisor.

Q: Do you actually manage my money?

A: No.  We provide you with our investment recommendations including what we consider to be the most appropriate asset allocation for your investment portfolio.  You are responsible for executing on that plan.

Q: What if I have several portfolios?

A: Many of our clients come to us with several investment portfolios.  Our Blue package covers investment allocation advice for up to 3 portfolios.  Our Red package covers investment allocation for up to 2 portfolios, and our Green package covers investment allocation for 1 portfolio.  You should choose the package that you believe best fits your current need.  We are always available to help you make that decision should you need the help.

Q: How do I know if your investment professionals are qualified to provide me with investment advice?

A: All of our investment professionals are registered as Investment Advisor Representatives (IARs) of RGA Investment Advisors, LLC.  This means, that at a minimum, they have passed the Series 65 licensing exam and are qualified to provide investment advice.  All portfolio reviews are reviewed by professional money manager who, at a minimum, maintains a CFP (charter for financial planning) or similar designation.

Q: How will you determine how to allocate my investments?

A: Once you sign up for our services, we will ask you to complete an investment questionnaire that will give us adequate background from which to analyze your financial situation, including (but certainly not limited to) your risk tolerance, investment horizon, and current/future goals.  We use modern portfolio theory, low-cost asset allocation, and efficient-frontier models to determine the optimal mix of investments given your unique needs.

Q: What kind of deliverable can I expect?

A: After we have compiled all the necessary information to render our advice, we will compile a personalized investment report which will be sent to you via PDF.  We will schedule an advisory conference call with you in which an investment professional will review your report and answer any questions you have.  Depending on which package you purchased, we will allocate the necessary time to discuss our deliverable and answer any other questions you may have.

Q: What if I'm not satisfied with the recommendations?

A: While we cannot assert any guarantee of investment performance, we do guarantee that you will be satisfied with our end-product.  We will take the necessary steps to ensure that you fully understand our recommendations.

Q: What if I decide that I'd prefer you to manage my money?

A: If you decide the the 'do-it-yourself' approach is not a good fit for you after all, we will be happy to help you transition into more comprehensive investment advisor relationship with RGA Investment Advisors, LLC.  We will apply all Portfolio Strategist fee(s) to your first year relationship with RGA Investment Advisors.
